Hello and welcome to my blog: The Great British Gentleman!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by all things gentlemanly.
Where does this interest come from? Well….I’m from Great Britain (I was born and raised in Oxfordshire but am currently enjoying the quiet life in Norfolk), and I love everything about being British…including our penchant for tea and wet walks in the countryside. I’ve also been a man for as long as I can remember, so this helps!
Whilst being British and being a man are things ascribed at birth, I don’t believe being a gentleman is something that you are…it’s something you strive to be and, hopefully, in turn, something others will describe you as. This is where the interest comes from: from aiming to be the best man that I can be and wanting the best for anyone who reads this.
I don’t claim to know everything from the outset; for me this is a chance to broaden my knowledge and to explore all things gentlemanly, discussing both new things I learn, as well as a few that I’ve amassed after almost 40 years on the planet. I’m always looking for new things to write about and constructive feedback is always welcome.
This isn’t directed at the man of noble birth. I wanted to create a positive space for men who are striving to be the best that they can be, and the bottom line, quite literally, is this: I simply believe that the best elements of masculinity, like the best elements of femininity, should be celebrated!
